After the Sargodha incident, a call by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan for a rally in Sargodha went viral on social media. On BTL TV's programme 295C, host Gasper Daniel spoke about the situation with Christian leader and lawyer Akmal Bhatti.
Akmal Bhatti said such calls are spreading fear in Christian neighbourhoods and that many families may feel forced to move somewhere safer. He asked the district administration to impose Section 144 at once, register cases against those inciting violence, and call in the local leaders of religious parties to tell them the facts.
The programme also discussed the Interior Minister's meeting with Pope Francis on 3 June. According to Akmal Bhatti, as far as he knows, the persecution of Christians in Pakistan and the Jaranwala incident were not raised in that meeting, which he called a missed opportunity.
Akmal Bhatti said Pakistan's Christians are equal citizens of this land and that the state is responsible for protecting their lives and property.
